The Covid lockdown just made us all the more eager to participate in the Great Lake Watershed CleanUP.  With just about a week’s notice a group of eighteen volunteers showed up on Wednesday June 9 to pick up garbage along the Chippawa Creek (or crick as the locals say!).
In total, the 7 Rotarians from the Niagara Falls Sunrise club were joined by 2 Rylarians, 5 adult volunteer and 4 teenagers.  The group managed to collect 8 bags of materials, a mix of recycles and garbage and one role of matting.

It was a great event, first time for seeing familiar faces.  The most eventful moment was the appearance of Rotarian Scott sporting about 50 ticks.  Then a small tick removal team brushed and pulled off the pesky intruders.

It was lovely walkway along the river through George Bukator parkway, with the Rowing Club on the East end and the Boat launch on the right.  Many groups of locals were enjoying the sunshine and waterway.  Many spoke to us thanking us for our hot and sweaty work. In a year of Pandemic, it was a very inspiring day.  In fact, the group is thinking of a repeat this fall.  Watch for details and join in.  It was a great opportunity to make a difference.
